I recently read a story about how people in certain cities were stranded by US Airways becasue they were slowly rolling out a new reservation system. It had me worried because we are flying them for the honeymoon. I figured as long as I didn't change anything, I would be fine. Well, tis week, I put their system to the test. I'm down in good old ALABAMA and have to stay an extra night. Easy peasy...called downstairs to extend my stay...called AVIS to extend that too....last thing to do is call US Airways and eat the $100 change fee.
First off they had me on hold for 20 minutes before she even told me it would be:
(a) $100 to change
(b) $102.01 (yes 1 cent....its was some new change penalty...what was the $100 for????)
and then....(c) whatever the fare difference was.
No big deal, company pays, and plus I just wanted to leave so I could go to dinner. After I agree to the fees, she puts me on hold again for 20 minutes before her supervisor comes on to tell me the initial lady was having problems and he would be doing the change. Well, almost 27 minutes later, I got to talk to the guy and he told me all the other fees were waved, except the $100 change fee. Honestly I was chomping at the bit for the guy to come back so I could ask him to just refund me what I can get for the return flight because I was about to book with another airline. It was driving me nuts.
STAY AWAY FROM US AIRWAYS!!!!!
